Welcome to Ashley Boarding Cattery, where you and your cat are assured a warm welcome from owners Donna & Steve Lamont.
Donna and Steve purchased the cattery in March 2012. Back then, the facility was large with a maximum boarding capacity of 85 cats. Donna ran the cattery with the help of permanent and part-time staff, while Steve continued to work in the building and insurance industry.
With semi-retirement in the back of their minds, a decision was made in 2022 to substantially “downsize” the cattery to something manageable for two people without staff. The necessary buildings were re-located to a different location on the property, “up cycled”, redecorated and relandscaped.
The cattery is now located amongst a stunning garden setting close to the house. We just love our new cattery. It’s nicer for us and nicer for our feline guests. All the buildings are north facing making them warm and sunny. The units are easy to keep clean and tidy and have beautiful views over our rhododendron garden and fishpond. Being a small facility, we get to spend even more time with the cats. And being closer to our house, we can see the cats and they can see us. It’s just worked out perfectly.
Ashley Boarding Cattery is hugely supported by local and repeat clientele from both Christchurch and North Canterbury and is also highly recommended by Vets and cat welfare groups. The cattery units have been orientated and designed to provide a sunny, spacious, safe and secure environment for your pet.

Ashley Boarding Cattery is a small, boutique cattery with a maximum boarding capacity of only 26 cats. We are a “cat only” facility situated in North Canterbury within a tranquil garden setting on the edge of the Rangiora township, approximately 25 minutes from Christchurch.
If you are unable to drop off your pet, we will happily oblige with our free local pick-up and delivery service.
